Wonderful tasks are electrifying

From the The Argus, first published Friday 19th Jan 2007.

The recent article and picture, captioned "Let there be light", with Jonathan Hare, a scientist from the University of Sussex, showing pupils the marvels of electricity as part of the Brighton Science Festival (The Argus, January 5), is absolutely spot on.

As we all know, industry and commerce have been crying out for engineers of every discipline for decades.

In consequence, I am sure many of us applaud the lecturers of the Brighton Science Festival who gave their time so freely to help teenagers see how exciting electricity can be, despite its being a common factor in everyone's life.

To all budding engineers, I say: "Go for it."

Electricity does so many things. It will hold you forever spellbound and excited - and will also give you secure employment because, as trained engineers, you will always be in demand, not only in this country, but wherever people use electricity to live.
