Basement Soul Christmas Party with Futureboogie, Jazz Place, Brighton, Fri Dec 15

From the The Argus, first published Friday 15th Dec 2006.

Futureboogie are a Bristol-based DJ collective and label who run Seen, one of Gilles Peterson's favourite club nights.

Futureboogie main man Joe 90 and sidekicks Kid Bongo and El Harvo will be adding their own brand of soulfulness to the Basement Soul Christmas Party.

Joe 90 has played numerous times at The Big Chill Festival, Bestival, Hospital Records' Hospitality night in London, Rainer Truby's Rootdown night in Germany, Warm and The End in London, the Powder Room, Barcelona as well as our very own Phonic:Hoop in Brighton.

The most recent addition to the FB crew, Kid Bongo digs the deeper funk, soul, and Afro ends of the boogie spectrum. Originally of the Main Ingredient crew, he is now one of the three FB residents.

Living proof that it's all about making a good party, El Harvo tends to joust up the housier end of the spectrum.

Futureboogie has been going strong for more than five years in Bristol. They attract 25,000 hits a month to their website and also run a booking agency and a radio show.

The label and agency now holds residencies at The Big Chill Bar and at The Big Chill House, both in London, and Joe 90's Futureboogie Radio Show goes out every Sunday night on Kiss 101.
