Rail work wins major awards

From the The Argus, first published Friday 15th Dec 2006.

A rail firm has won two national awards for the way it maintains its historic stations.

Southern, which operates across Sussex and south London, received the Station Environment Award, for looking after heritage stations, and the Railway Heritage Trust Conservation Award, for work in Hove, at the National Railway Heritage Awards.

Judges said the Hove project was, "a splendid example of a longneglected building being rescued from a parlous state and is now an asset to the remainder of the station complex".

Southern said the awards were a testament to the hard work of its staff.
