From the The Argus, first published Friday 17th Nov 2006.
A distressed sea bird was found on a beach with a finger-sized hook through its beak.
The fulmar was discovered by a dog walker in Peacehaven yesterday. Concerned by the size of the hook and state of the bird, the man called East Sussex Wildlife Rescue.
The bird was taken to St Francis vets in Brighton where the hook was removed and the fulmar given a dose of antibiotics.
He said the hook had come from a trawler. He said a minority of commercial fishermen cut their nets and hooks adrift, if they get entangled, causing such problems.
